Releasing me
There is a siren, fire starter, eternal flame, wild woman buried within. I've seen only glimpses of her over the past 40 years.
She is fierce, bold, unrelenting, unpredictable.
She scares society.
She scares me.
She is not normal. She is not of this realm. This earthly realm of order and conformity.
But have no worries. You are safe from her defiance. She is locked up nice and tight. No way she will ever be able to break free of the chains keeping her hidden from the world.
Until she finds the courage to speak out. To be heard. To face the fear of being seen for who she truly is. Who she always was. Who she shall always be.
A warrior. A fighter. A creator. A storyteller. A woman. Devoted to truth. Committed to connection. Crying out for compassion. From herself. For herself. For others.
She is hidden so well that often her host isn't aware of the power she possess within.
Except when she does.
When she feels the stirring, the agitation, the urgency to figure out why things feel so difficult.
This host wonders why the weight stays on, the isolation deepens, the self sabotage continues, the despair increases.
It takes a lot of energy to keep your true self from shining through.
A lot of work to keep this powerful essence from leaking out and creating havoc on the world around you - a world of rules and expectations and assimilation.
So instead, she fights against herself.
Isolating her heart.
Ignoring her desires.
Questioning her voice.
Interrupting her dreams with hours of a life - a reality - that does not belong to her.
Add hatred, fear, shame, anxiety, confusion, and overwhelm and that should be enough to keep this heroine contained.
Until she finds the courage to speak out. To be heard. To face the fear of being seen for who she truly is. Who she always was. Who she shall always be.
A warrior. A fighter. A creator. A storyteller.
She is inside of me, awaiting release.
She is inside of you.
Let's free her together.
Imaging what we can chaos we can create on this patriarchal society that insists on winning at all costs, pitting the haves against the have-nots (and often the have-nots against one another), accepting things as the way they have to be, ignoring what is known to be true, obsessing over control instead of cooperation, and refusing to acknowledge that fear is not the way to lead.
I will do my part.
Writing. Creating. Sharing. Witnessing. Releasing. Surrendering. Receiving.
Join me.
